Join Pat Prigge, CP, LP, FAAOP(D), and Jennifer Peterson, MA, PT, as they discuss their research findings when studying how brain development informs the timing and device design when fitting a child with an upper-limb prosthesis. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session following the presentation. At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of how brain development informs the timing and device selection when fitting a child with an upper limb prosthesis
- Describe how a full-time prosthetic wearing schedule may assist with prosthetic acceptance and embodiment.
- State the benefits of fitting age-appropriate prostheses to children from 6-month-old with a passive upper limb prosthesis to older children with a myoelectric or body- powered device.
- Explain why upper limb prosthetic therapy is important for prosthetic success.
