Orthotic treatment for idiopathic scoliosis involves full time use of corrective TLSO bracing to minimize curve progression through growth. However, patient outcomes are highly dose-dependent, and 31% of patients have been documented to have poor adherence to care (< 6 hours wear time per day). This webinar explores methods for tracking patient in-brace wear time to improve patient engagement in treatment care planning. Speakers include experts from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital, Gillette Children's Hospital, and Boston Orthotics and Prosthetics. As a result of this discussion, attendees will have a better understanding of the following concepts.
- Understand current evidence on TLSO compliance in treatment of idiopathic scoliosis
- Understand importance of TLSO wear time for effective treatment of idiopathic scoliosis
- Discover clinician techniques for implementing compliance monitor programs
- Review techniques for conversations between clinicians, patients, and family members on TLSO compliance
- Review techniques in clinic practice for improving patient compliance to prescribed wear schedules
