Systemically varying the prosthetic ankle component stiffness may influence standing and walking abilities in persons with unilateral, transtibial amputations. The present study aims to determine the effect of this variation on gait biomechanics and standing balance. The study analyzed the prosthetic ankle stiffness and Roll-Over Shape radii relationship and correlated those parameters with gait biomechanics, standing sway area and participants' feedback.
Comparison Between A Robotic Prosthetic Foot Emulator and Corresponding Commercial Prosthetic Forefoot Angular Stiffness Properties

The prosthetic foot emulator (PFE) is a robotic foot-ankle prosthesis that can be attached to a prosthetic socket and programmed to mimic the mechanical behavior of commercial prosthetic forefeet. Using the PFE, patients with lower limb amputation (LLA) could quickly experience walking with different types of commercial feet. To achieve effective emulation, commercial feet are mechanically tested to and these data are used to recreate the mechanical properties of corresponding commercial prosthetic feet with the PFE. These results of this presentation demonstrate the relatively high accuracy of emulating forefoot angular stiffness of commercial prosthetic feet using the PFE. Optimizing the angular stiffness of emulated forefeet with respect to the corresponding commercial feet will improve the utility of the PFE for test-driving feet to augment prosthetic foot prescription.
Analysis of A Clinical Competence Survey: Should We Rethink the Practice Analysis?

This study evaluated the results of a competency self-assessment survey, explored latent common factors, and related the findings to clinical autonomy. The results of this study indicate a need to reconsider current practice and educational frameworks in the evaluation of clinical competency.
