Description
Orthotic management for idiopathic scoliosis is used to prevent curve pro- gression and therefore lessen the likelihood of surgery in growing children with idiopathic scoliosis. Patients who are prescribed bracing as a treatment method typically have a curve measuring between 25 and 45 degrees and have the potential for significant growth during the course of treatment. Once a patient receives the brace, he or she is instructed to wear it either part time (16–18 hours per day) or full time (23 hours per day). Prescribed wear time may vary between treating physicians.
