Learning Objectives:
- Evaluate patients to determine appropriate goals, care plans, and O&P interventions.
- Understand proper evalaution and maching design to ensure optimal gait and prevention of limb breakdown After partial foot amputation: understand when to cross the ankle for best outcomes.
- Understand how to design a device to restore functional gait for a patient with partial foot amputation.
Treating patients with partial foot amputation can be challenging, and their presentation can vary considerably. Multiple O&P design principles can contribute to functional restoration. Speakers in this session, led by the Academy's Lower Limb Prosthetic Society, will discuss amputation level decisions, effective surgical techniques, and effective clinical management for patients with partial foot amputation.
