Description
The goal of this course is help accurately assess and communicate information related to prosthetic foot function. First you must understand normal foot function, gait, and the terminology associated with them, and the nomenclature for clinical biomechanics encompassing the methodology of evaluating gait and foot function. This presentation will review each of these areas and highlighting areas of potential misunderstanding. The extensive background on important nomenclature and explanation of basic gait and foot functions leads to the realization that these are necessary for the communication of clinical anaylsis in a clinical setting and to interpret published research. Unfortunately, standardization may not be practical due the the multidisciplinary nature of the profession and that technology may outdate any previous standards devised. Overall, an understanding of common confusion can ensure a somewhat standard nomenclature.
