- Define the role of CPGs as a resource in clinical decision-making, especially in areas of limited personal experience or expertise.
- Introduce variations in development standards of CPGs and the associated differences in their strength and detail.
- Explore the contents of the recently released VA/DOD guidelines.
- Introduce the contents of the recently published Care Standards from the Hanger Institute.
This session introduces two new Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) regarding rehabilitation following upper limb amputation published by the Hanger Institute and the Department of Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense. Presenters will introduce the role of CPGs as a resource in clinical decision-making and discuss variations in development standards of CPGs by comparing and contrasting these two new resources.
